Making Change: First Steps (Part 2)
August 7, 2003 @ 8:00 PM on WVIZ
If you think there’s nothing you can do to have an impact on our regional
economy, you’re wrong! There are first steps you can take that make
a big difference. In “Making Change: First Steps,” you’ll meet some
local folks who are taking steps to help reinvent Northeast Ohio’s
economy. They’re not economists. They’re not corporate giants. They’re
not political power brokers. They’re everyday people who by improving
their own lives are actually helping improve our community. Donita
Anderson is a stay-at-home mom who is supporting local farmers and
helping to revitalize neighborhoods with her North Union Farmers Markets.
Frederick and Janice Johnson are former high school sweethearts who
put their jobs, house, and savings on the line to follow their dream
of creating their own business. Mandy Melton is a college student
who is taking her first steps toward earning a paycheck for the quality
of her mind rather than the quality of her labor. You’ll hear their
unique stories in a 30-minute documentary. Then, you’ll have a chance
to put in your two cents about how we can work together to create
a brighter future for our region. Host Julie Henry will be joined
by some of the people featured in the documentary for a half-hour
follow-up discussion. Viewers will be invited to call in with questions,
suggestions, and concerns. Tune in for inspirational stories and practical
tips on how you can help reinvent Northeast Ohio’s economy one step
at a time.
