There's an ongoing debate about the safety of a commonly used filling that dentists use to plug up cavities. Dentists call it "amalgam." The filling is more commonly known as "silver." It's a combination of several metals including Mercury. There's wide agreement that mercury does pose health problems if it's ingested, but what's up for debate, is how much mercury leaks out of these fillings and is that level of mercury harmful? Bree Zeltner is a health reporter who's covering this story for the Plain Dealer. She spoke with ideastream®'s Eric Wellman.
